Frequently Asked Questions |
| What does a stair cost? |
Stair costs depend on how complicated the design of the stair is and also the materials being utilized. Stair costs can range from $2,000 to $450,000 +/-, the cost really cannot be determined until we view your print and your specifications. |
| How do I get a quote? |
Contact Florida Stairworks by phone or email and provide first and second floor plans of each stair flight, any elevation and design drawings along with the specifications, including and not limited to styles of stair parts and wood species. If you do not have prints available, simple line sketches showing basic dimensions will get us started. |
| Does the wood come prefinished? |
Florida Stairworks can provide priming of all paint grade material. In our industry, the standard is to deliver stain grade material sanded to a 125 finish, unstained and unfinished. However, we do offer tread finishing in a standard array of tones with water born top coating finish. |
| Can I install the stair myself? |
Florida Stairworks products are generally installed by our installers. Our out-of-state pre-fabricated product is designed to be installed by other carpenters. However, it is suggested because of the custom nature of many staircases, that the installation of stair products be completed by an experienced stair installer. Stairs and railings
are a structural and a life/safety item in your home. The installation needs to be performed correctly. |
| How long does a stair take to install? |
Every staircase and railing project will vary in the installation time. Until we actually quote your project, we cannot adequately estimate how long installation will take. There are many variables that affect installation time and cost. From the complexity of the project, job site conditions including location and working hours. |
| Lead-time for stair or railing production? |
Once we receive approved shop drawings, production time for a simple railing project can be as little as two weeks or up to 12 weeks (or more) for a more complex stair system. |
| How long does it take to get a quote? |
Quotes for a simple railing replacement can be done in as little of 24 hours. However, a more complicated stair quote can take up to two weeks depending on the design and materials requested. |
